The Armiga Project is born from the feeling that something is missing in today’s games. Lot’s of people look back to the old consoles and computers and remember the feelings they had.
Some of this sensations can be taken back with emulators, but much of the experience is missing; it’s not only the game, it’s a whole. Inserting the cartridge in a 16-Bit console, the floppy disk load times…, the look and feel of the old stuff…
All this is specially true in the Commodore Amiga 500, so we’ve decided to take it back. For doing this, we’re developing a mix of hardware and software that let you use your own floppy disks and play your games in your modern TV, in HD, with zero configuration effort and with the best compatibility
The machine, the Armiga, is a beautiful piece of modern technology.
It’s built around a modern Dual Core ARM CPU, that plays together with our custom made floppy controller. This is the key of the machine: We’ve developed our own controller, able of reading Amiga disks, decode them and make them available for executing. Sounds simple, right? 😉
Some of the Armiga specs are:
- HD720p output over HDMI with stereo sound
- 2 USB ports and support for keyboard, mouse and joystick
- microSD card and USB pendrive support
- Automatic disk dumping ability
- Network connection
